Microsoft to layoff 4,800 jobs

(NBC, KYMA) - Microsoft announced a major round of layoffs Monday as the company is cutting 4,800 jobs, which is a little more than 2% of its total workforce.

A majority of the cuts are in the company's XBOX division, which is slashing more than 3,000 jobs. Four gaming studios will become independent as part of the XBOX layoffs.

XBOX is one of several areas where Microsoft has seen shrinking revenue in recent years.
