Sen. Mitch McConnell hospitalized after reportedly suffering cardiac arrest

(NBC, KYMA) - New details are emerging about Sen. Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) hospitalization.

Police scanner audio obtained by NBC News indicates paramedics were dispatched to a known address for Sen. McConnell after a report of a cardiac arrest involving an unconscious person on June 14, the same day his office announced he had been hospitalized.

McConnell's office has not confirmed whether the emergency call involved the senator and has never disclosed the reason for his hospitalization.

NBC News has also learned that paramedics performed CPR on an individual experiencing a "cardiac arrest" during that call.

In audio from a paramedic on scene, you can hear "CPR in progress."

When asked about the audio, a spokesman referred NBC news to a June 22 statement saying McConnell continues working with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters while recovering, but would not vote that week.

The office has not said whether the 84-year-old senator remains hospitalized.

McConnell has not appeared publicly since June 14 and has experienced several health issues in recent years, including a concussion in 2023 and a hospitalization earlier this year for flu-like symptoms.
