Sony to stop making physical game discs

(NBC, KYMA) - It's the end of an era as Sony says it will stop making physical game discs for PlayStation games.

Starting in 2028, new PlayStation games will be available on the PlayStation store and at retailers in digital formats only.

Sony says the change aligns with consumer preference for digital media, which significantly outpaces physical discs.

It comes just days after RockStar announced the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI will only launch digitally.
