Heat continues to rise towards extreme conditions

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Temperatures across the Desert Southwest are tracking to reach into the upper 100s Tuesday, and by Wednesday at 10 a.m., both Yuma and El Centro will be in an Extreme Heat Warning that runs through Friday at 8 p.m.

Humidity levels are expected to be low for the evening, but are trending higher all day Wednesday with dew points in the low-to-mid 50s.

Please ensure you are making an effort to stay hydrated throughout the coming days. Loosely-fitted clothing also helps with air circulation for your body to stay cooler.

Of course, finding shade and staying indoors with air conditioning goes a long way in making sure you are staying safe in the heat.

The strongest winds in the Desert Southwest will roll into the region in the late afternoon. Gusts will reach close to 20 mph around 5 p.m. These conditions should ease off heading into the evening, starting at about 7:30 p.m.

By Wednesday morning, temperatures will sit in the low 90s for your commute to work before max conditions hitting above 110°F.

Summer is here, and the heat is creeping its way up to intense conditions.
