U.S. military forces shoot down four Iranian attack drones

(NBC, KYMA) - U.S. military forces shot down four Iranian attack drones launched toward the Strait of Hormuz Friday, according to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

In a post on social media, CENTCOM writes that the one-way attack drones "posed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic."

The post shows video of U.S. forces striking Iranian coastal surveillance radar sites in Goruk and on Qeshm Island to defend against further maritime attacks.

Initial assessments indicate six of the missiles launched by Iran were intercepted and a seventh did not reach its intended target.

There are currently no reports of harm to U.S. personnel.

It's the latest in back-and-forth military attacks in the region that have strained the tenuous ceasefire and efforts to reach a deal to extend the truce.

CENTCO says that American forces remain vigilant and postured to respond to unjustified Iranian aggression in self-defense.
