Man charged in connection to the murder of actor James Handy

LOS ANGELES (NBC, KYMA) - The entertainment world is stunned and saddened following the brutal murder of veteran actor James Handy.

Authorities say Handy, who most recently appeared in "Top Gun: Maverick," was found stabbed to death in the front yard of his girlfriend's Los Angeles home Thursday.

The alleged suspect in the killing, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, is the son of Handy's girlfriend.

Authorities say Gledhill was arrested after he flagged down officers who were responding to a 911 call, telling them he was the person they were looking for.

Gledhill is charged with one count of murder with a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon, and is being held on a $2 million bail.

Handy was 81-years-old.
