Tracking warming temperatures to start June

Triple-digit temperatures will take over this week, keeping our temperatures slightly above-normal this week. The warmest day of the week is looking to be the middle of the week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Happy June 1st! Today we are starting the month with slightly above-normal temperatures, as highs are in the triple digits. Take a look.

Today is the start of Meteorological Summer! According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), meteorological seasons use fixed calendar months rather than fluid astronomical seasons because it makes calculating seasonal statistics easier and produces more consistent data.

What this also means for us is we have longer days with daylight and hotter temperatures ahead. This also means monsoon season is right around the corner. Take a look at our Meteorological Summer average high temperatures.

The Summer Solstice will officially kick off in the Desert Southwest at 2:24 a.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2026.

Heading into our first evening of June, it will be a little warmer than what we have been experiencing, but still going to be a calm, clear, and nice evening. Perfect to be outdoors especially once that sun goes down.

A ridge of high-pressure weather pattern will keep our temperatures warm, along with dry conditions this week.

This week we are in for a warm, sunny, and dry week as highs will be in the low 100s, which is slightly warmer than normal.
