TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA) - Rep. Adelita Grijalva (D-Ariz.) is calling for the immediate release of a Tucson DACA recipient after she was detained by ICE.

According to a press release, Rep. Grijalva visited an ICE holding facility in Tucson to meet with Karla Toledo, who was detained by ICE Monday despite being a DACA recipient.

"Karla is a DACA recipient with legal status in this country who is a beloved member of our community that serves on local boards and volunteers her time helping others," Grijalva wrote.

The press release says Grijalva's unannounced visit after Toledo's family was unable to confirm if she was being held at the Tucson facility.

"I'm calling on ICE to immediately release Karla, who was reportedly taken by federal agents from her home earlier today after they entered without a warrant. ICE's blatant disregard for the rule of law and due process is outrageous and completely out of line," Grijalva also wrote. "We live in a country where everyone has constitutional rights, no matter how hard ICE tries to trample on them. Karla must be released immediately, and ICE must stop terrorizing our communities."
