‘Michael’ reclaims number one spot at the box office

(CNN, KYMA) - The Michael Jackson biopic is back in familiar territory at the weekend box office.

Amazon MGM Studios' "The Sheep Detectives," starring Hugh Jackman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, grazed down to the number five spot this past weekend, earning $9.3 million.

Warner Bros' "Mortal Kombat II," starring Karl Urban and based off the popular video game series, slipped from second place to fourth place, earning $13.4 million.

Focus Features' "Obsession," a psychological horror film directed by Curry Barker, debuted in third place, scaring up $16.1 million.

After claiming the number one spot for two weeks, 20th Century Studios' "The Devil Wears Prada 2," which features Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles respectively, stepped off the catwalk and into second place with $18 million, bringing its three-week domestic box office total to $175.9 million.

Lionsgate's "Michael," a biopic on Michael Jackson, rebounded from third place to the top spot, bringing in $26.1 million and its four-weekend domestic box office total to $282.8 million.
