John Travolta receives honorary award at Cannes Film Festival

(CNN, KYMA) - Actor John Travolta was surprised with an honorary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

Palme d'Or is the Cannes' version of a lifetime achievement award. The special moment happened as Travolta was about to screen his film "Propeller One-Way Night Coach."

Travolta was brought to tears, saying, "This is beyond the Oscar."

"Propeller One-Way Night Coach" marks the actor's directorial debut and is based on his 1997 children's book of the same name.

His daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, is among the film's stars, and it will be streaming on AppleTV later this month.
