YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Seven Yuma Catholic athletes officially signed letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level during the school’s signing day ceremony, highlighting another strong year for the Shamrocks’ athletic programs.
The football program produced the largest group of signees. Quarterback Nash Ott committed to Central College in Iowa.

Defensive tackle Caesar Fernandez signed with Northwestern Oklahoma State University, while lineman Eden Orozco committed to Willamette University.
“It’s a small area and I like non-distractions, and I feel like it’s just the best opportunity I got right now and I’m willing to take it," Fernandez said. "I’m willing to do whatever it takes to just ball out and have fun.”
“The campus was great," exclaimed Orozco. "It just felt like family. I met teammates over there, already made some bonds, so [I'm] looking forward to getting over there.”
In golf, Carter Patterson signed with Ottawa University to continue competing at the collegiate level.
“I’m super excited," he said. "I mean golf’s my favorite thing in general, so being able to go play that competitively in college is just a dream I’ve always had, and excited to go do it.”
On the softball diamond, Faith Donley committed to Linfield University after finding the right fit both academically and athletically.
“I visited and immediately fell in love with it - fell in love with my teammates and knew it was the perfect school for me, with being the correct academics, athletics and everything that, that fit. It just fit perfect," she shared vehemently. "It was just meant to be.”
Fellow Shamrock softball athlete Kodi Leigh will head to Alfred University in New York.
“I’m excited to take my talents to the next level because I believe it’s gonna be really fun to go out there and show [that] I can prove what our small town is really about," she said.
Basketball standout Noe Zamudio also signed to continue his career in New York at D'Youville University.
“It’s one of my biggest dreams to play at the next level," he shared. "I thank God and my family and everybody who supported me.”
Whether remaining close to home or traveling across the country, Yuma Catholic’s latest class of signees will continue representing the Shamrocks at the collegiate level in the years ahead.
