YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- TODAY marks the start of the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season. Here's the list of names the National Hurricane Center will use this year. While the Atlantic Hurricane Season doesn't begin until June 1st, the Pacific typically becomes favorable earlier due to the warmer water.

Many East Pacific storms stay offshore, but they can still bring impacts to Mexico, Hawaii, and the Southwest United States.

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for parts of Imperial County due to high ozone levels. This is looking to expire at 8 pm tonight.

This same Air Quality Alert will also go back into effect Saturday through midnight Sunday due to widespread blowing dust from the expected winds this weekend.

Tracking an incoming low, that will bring in gustier winds this weekend and cooler temperatures to the Desert Southwest.

Make sure to add extra hairspray and gel to your hair because the winds are on the way.

Winds will begin to pick up Saturday afternoon. Take a look at our Furturetrack hour-by-hour wind gusts for Saturday. We will have breezy and windy conditions this weekend with winds coming from the west/southwest and gusts between 25-35 MPH.

Even stronger winds will favor the southwest corner of Imperial County.

Due to the gustier winds, there's a Wind Advisory issued for the southwest corner of Imperial County for 2 pm Saturday through 11 pm Sunday for strong west/southwest winds and gusts up to 50-55 MPH.

These winds will be pretty gusty, so make sure to secure your loose and lightweight objects. Tie down larger outdoor items and make sure to cover your patio furniture.

We are in for lots of sunshine with gustier winds Saturday-Monday. The good new is we do have cooler and near-average temperatures through early next week.
