Dog rescued after falling down a pit in England

NORTH YORK MOORS, England (CBS, KYMA) - A dog was rescued after it fell down a pit in the North York Moors in England over the weekend.

The footage was published by the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team, who said that the dog had fallen around 6.5 meters (21.3 feet) down the pit.

"Somehow, gravity had carried her through several extremely tight gaps, which likely helped break her fall, but also left her trapped deep underground," they said.

The dog was lifted out safely after a cave diver named Lucy managed to squeeze into the pit and reach them, the rescue team said.

In a follow-up post on Facebook, the rescue team said, "Incidents like this are a great reminder that rescue rarely happens because of one team alone. It takes different organisations, different specialisms, and people willing to go to extraordinary lengths when it matters most."
