Former New England Patriots player Stefon Diggs found not guilty

DEDHAM, Mass. (NBC, KYMA) - A jury has found former New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs not guilty of assault and strangulation.

Diggs was accused of smacking his personal chef across the face and tried to choke her in December of last year.

Diggs pleaded not guilty to both charges.

After closing statements Tuesday, the case went to the Norfolk County jury just after 3 p.m. Eastern, and the jurors deliberated for over an hour.

The Patriots released Diggs in March and he has not signed with another team.
