Shamrocks sweep into semifinals, earn top section honors

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Catholic Shamrocks tennis is rolling at the perfect time.

The Shamrocks continued their dominant stretch with a 5-0 sweep over The Gregory School Hawks, marking their third straight sweep and an impressive 11th shutout victory of the season. While the Hawks showed more resistance than previous opponents, Yuma Catholic remained in control from start to finish, showcasing both depth and consistency across the lineup.

With the win, the Shamrocks now advance to the semifinals and will face the winner of Thatcher and Rancho Solano Prep later this week, with a spot in the championship on the line.

Off the court, the accolades continue to pour in for Yuma Catholic. Sofia Gallegos has been named the Arizona Interscholastic Association Singles Section Player of the Year, while head coach Porfirio Gonzales earned Section Coach of the Year honors—further highlighting the program’s standout season.

Yuma Catholic now shifts its focus to Friday’s semifinal matchup, carrying both momentum and recognition into the next round.
