White House briefly locks down after a person was shot by the Secret Service

WASHINGTON (CBS, KYMA) - The White House was briefly locked down Monday after a person was shot by the Secret Service, reports said.

The Secret Service said an officer shot a person on 15th Street and Independence Avenue. The agency said the condition of the person is currently unknown.

Police said traffic diversions are in place and advised the public to avoid the area.

According to reports, journalists who were at an event on the White House lawn were moved to a briefing room.

Footage captured by @curtiswinters16 shows emergency vehicles speeding past the Washington Monument.
