Yuma standouts selected for 6A All-Star Game, highlight strong season across region
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Some of the top baseball talent in Yuma is getting recognized on a bigger stage, as four local standouts have been selected to the 6A All-Star Game following standout senior seasons.
Leading the group is Rodrigo Orozco of Cibola High School, a do-it-all player who made his presence felt in nearly every aspect of the game.
The senior hit .466 with an impressive .567 on-base percentage, while also providing power at the plate and consistency in the field.
Orozco's strong season has already helped pave the way for his next chapter, as he is committed to continue his career at Arizona Western College.
From San Luis High School, Luis Cunningham stands out as the region's lone All-State selection, earning second-team honors. Cunningham put together one of the most complete seasons in the area, hitting .386 while also dominating on the mound with a 0.93 earned run average.
His ability to impact the game both offensively and defensively made him a key piece for San Luis throughout the year.
Over at Kofa High School, two seniors earned All-Star recognition in Julio Reina and Ryan Rosas.
Reina delivered a consistent offensive presence all season long, batting .433 with a .509 on-base percentage while contributing across multiple positions. His performance has also earned him an opportunity at the next level, as he is committed to South Mountain Community College.
Rosas, meanwhile, put together one of the most dominant individual seasons in the state. The senior posted a remarkable .506 batting average, along with a .587 on-base percentage and an .851 slugging percentage.
He also showcased his versatility by contributing on the mound with a 2.19 ERA, further cementing his status as one of the region's top all-around players.
With four seniors representing three different schools, the selections highlight the depth of talent across Yuma County.
As they prepare for the 6A All-Star Game, Orozco, Cunningham, Reina and Rosas will have one final opportunity to showcase their skills, and represent their community, on a bigger stage before moving on to the next level.
