Rep. Andy Biggs makes campaign stop in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The primary race for the Arizona Republican Party made its way through Yuma over the weekend.

Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), who is running for governor of Arizona, made a campaign stop in Yuma Saturday to share his policies at Community Christian Church.

The congressman is currently leading the GOP primary by 42 points, and has endorsements from Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), State Rep. Nick Kupper (R-District 25), and President Donald Trump.

State Rep. Kupper joined Biggs on stage, along with Arizona Senate President, and State Attorney General candidate, Warren Petersen.

Among Rep. Biggs' priorities are eliminating Arizona's state income tax by delivering the Working Families Tax Cuts at the state level.

He shared why he is advocating for funds to be released to support water projects in Arizona, including the reopening of the Yuma Desalting Plant, and how big of a priority ensuring the state gets sufficient water supply from the Colorado River is.

"We want to make sure that the water is done right and that everything works out for the purity of the water and make sure that it works for Yuma too, but that's the idea," Biggs explained. "Arizona is always the one that takes the biggest cut. We want to make sure that we don't get hosed on this deal, and that's very, very important. It's a big deal and we're pushing real hard right now."

The primary election is on July 21.
