Zoo in Werribee names 10-week-old lion cub duo

(CBS, KYMA) - Werribee Open Range Zoo's 10-week-old lion cub duo have officially received their names, the zoo announced Friday.

In a statement sent to Storyful, the zoo revealed the female cub was given the name Sukari, which stands for sugar and was chosen to complement her mum Asali's name, which means "sweet like honey."

Her brother was named Kwame, pronounced: Kwah-may, which translates to "born on a Saturday." Fittingly, Kwame arrived into the world Saturday, February 14.

Werribee Open Range Zoo lion keeper Maddy Jamieson said the pair's personalities were beginning to shine as they continued to grow.

"Kwame, the male, is a little more reserved and quiet, while his sister Sukari is already showing a lot of strength and confidence," Jamieson said. "They're really finding their feet out on habitat, playfighting right up near the window, climbing all over their mum, dad, grandma and half-sister Kianga, and napping side by side."
