Yuma High’s David Argomaniz commits to Knox College
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - For Yuma High School senior David Argomaniz, the next step in his football journey is officially set.
After four years of development with the Criminals, Argomaniz has committed to continue his career at Knox College, where he plans to study business with an emphasis in finance.
“Yeah, it was great,” Argomaniz said about making his decision. “I love the atmosphere over there… it was a pretty incredible atmosphere.”
His commitment comes after steady growth both physically and mentally throughout his high school career.
“I’ve found myself. I get faster, get stronger, get that extra step every single year,” Argomaniz said. “I think it’s just gonna keep going.”
On the field, the senior defensive lineman made his presence known this past season. He led the team with nearly four tackles per game, recorded a sack, and added two fumble recoveries—numbers that reflect his consistency and impact.
But for Argomaniz, the stats only tell part of the story.
“Even when the team goes down, you still have those little plays… the impact plays that really define the game,” he said.
That mindset was shaped early in his career. As a freshman, Argomaniz was part of a 7-3 team that showed him what it takes to succeed.
“That really helped a lot,” he said. “I got to see what a winning culture is… what you need to do to put in the work at every level.”
Even after the season ended, Argomaniz stayed focused on improving his game—working on his speed and first step to prepare for the next level.
“I kept working… just trying to get my speed down and my first steps better,” he said.
Coaches at Knox College project him primarily as a defensive end, with the potential to also contribute at outside linebacker—something Argomaniz says he’s excited about.
Off the field, he credits his time at Yuma High for helping him grow beyond football.
“It really helped me with building myself as a person, as a player, as a teammate first,” he said.
Now, he’s preparing for a new environment far from the desert—including something Yuma athletes don’t often experience.
“They have all four seasons there… they get a little snow,” Argomaniz said with a smile. “I really like the atmosphere over there.”
From Yuma High to Knox College, Argomaniz’s journey is a testament to consistency, development, and dedication. And while his time with the Criminals has come to an end, his football future is just beginning.
