FIRST ALERT: Tracking another round of gusty winds and cooler temperatures this weekend
The next lower-pressure system is arriving this weekend, bringing back gustier winds and cooler temperatures. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is issued for Saturday-Sunday due to winds in the Desert Southwest.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- It's finally Friday! Temperatures were back in the low 90s this afternoon, which is slightly warmer than normal for late April.
Going into the evening, we will have mild temperatures and slightly breezier conditions. Winds will be coming from the west and between 10-15 MPH in Yuma County. It will be a little stronger in Imperial County. Clouds will also increase overnight, but we are looking to stay dry.

Our next lower-pressure system will move in this weekend, which will bring back gustier winds and cooler temperatures for the weekend.

I am issuing a Weather Authority First Alert Action Day evening Saturday through Sunday evening due to strong west winds and blowing dust.
This will bring difficult driving conditions and unhealthy air quality to the Desert Southwest.

Looking ahead to Saturday, strong westerly winds will make a return. I am tracking widespread breezy and windy conditions across the Desert Southwest.
Winds will begin to pick up during the afternoon, but stronger winds are expected during the evening hours with gusts between 25-35 MPH.

A Wind Advisory is issued for the majority of Imperial County due to the strong winds this will go into effect 5 p.m. Saturday through 5 a.m. Sunday for west winds up to 45 MPH.
A Wind Advisory for the southwest corner of Imperial County will stay in effect until 11 p.m. Sunday for gusts up to 60 MPH.

Widespread dust and sand are expected in Imperial County due to these gusty west winds, which is why an Air Quality Alert is issued for Imperial County starting 2 p.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday.
This will lead to unhealthy air quality conditions and difficult driving conditions. Make sure to take precautions if you are traveling, and if you plan to be outdoors, make sure to frequently check the air quality conditions and stay indoors.

A similar setup as more west winds will continue into Sunday throughout the day and continuing into the evening. Take a look.

Make sure to prepare for the winds now while you have time. Make sure to secure loose and lightweight items and cover items like patio furniture, so items don't get dusty.

A Weather Authority First Alert Action Days will be in effect this weekend for gusty and dusty conditions.
Aside from the strong winds this weekend, temperatures will cool down nicely and back into the 80s, which is cooler than normal. The cool weather will carry into early next week.
However, I am tracking another weather system to maybe bring in slight rain chances by the middle of the week.
