Cibola seniors shine in run-rule win over Kofa on Senior Night
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Cibola softball turned Senior Night into a celebration and a statement.
The Raiders honored seven seniors before first pitch Tuesday, then delivered a dominant 10-0, five-inning run-rule victory over Kofa to stay perfect in region play.
Senior leaders like Sheyla Montano, Jaslene Rodriguez, Karrington Jacobs, Alessandra Martinez, Cameron Kasid, Kassandra Leal, and Angelica Arellano were recognized in a pregame ceremony, setting the tone for a night that quickly became all Cibola.
From the start, the Raiders (15-10-1, 5-0) played with purpose. They piled up 14 hits and consistently applied pressure at the plate, while their pitching and defense shut down Kofa’s offense.
“This group’s special,” Cibola’s head coach Myliah Ramirez said. “They’ve put in the work for years, and you just want them to have a night like this — where they can enjoy it and see it all pay off.”
Junior Jizelle Robles led the offensive surge with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, racking up multiple extra-base hits, including a triple, and driving in a run. She sparked a lineup that produced runs throughout the game.
Junior Alohanni Quintero added to the onslaught with three hits — including two triples — and two RBIs, while senior Karrington Jacobs chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBIs of her own. Senior Angelica Arellano also contributed at the plate, driving in two runs as Cibola’s offense stayed aggressive inning after inning.
In the circle, senior Alessandra Martinez delivered a dominant outing. She struck out eight and allowed just one hit over four scoreless innings, controlling the game from the start. Sophomore Eliana Corea came in to close, helping secure the shutout.
Kofa managed just three hits and struggled to generate consistent offense, leaving seven runners on base against a locked-in Cibola defense.
For the Raiders, the night was about more than just another win. It was a chance to celebrate a senior class that has helped shape the program — and to send them off from their home field the right way.
With the victory, Cibola remains unbeaten in the 6A Desert Southwest and continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. The Raiders will face Kofa again later this week as they look to keep their perfect region record intact.
