Five injured after car slams into Philadelphia police station

PHILADELPHIA (CBS, KYMA) - Police in Northeast Philadelphia say a driver intentionally drove into the Second District police station Tuesday.

The driver was traveling south on Castor Avenue, when he turned right and slammed into the lobby of the Second District station.

Five people were hospitalized with non-serious injuries, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

Surveillance video obtained by KYW shows a SUV crashing through glass doors into the station lobby.

The driver has been taken into custody. According to police, the driver was involved in a dispute involving him and his father earlier in the day.

Police say they responded to a domestic violence call around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, hours before the driver crashed into the police station.
