NBC News Decision Desk poll shows slipping support for President Trump

(NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump's job approval rating is sinking, according to a new NBC News Decision Desk poll out Sunday.

37% of adults polled say they approve of the president's performance in his second term so far while 63% disapprove, including 50% who say they strongly disapprove.

Meanwhile, the new poll surveyed more than 30,000 people, and found some slipping support among the GOP.

Of the Republicans polled, 52% strongly approve of president trump's job performance. That's a 6% drop from February.

The poll also shows Americans are concerned about rising costs and the war in Iran.

Just 32% of adults say they approve of how the president is handling inflation and the cost of living, and 68% disapprove.

More than two-thirds of Americans (67%) disapprove of how President Trump is handling the war with Iran, with one-third, 33%, approve his handling of the war.

Fewer people are happy with the direction of the country.

67% of those polled say they think the country is on the wrong track. That's up 2% from when NBC News asked back in February.

When polling just Gen Z respondents, 18 to 29-year-olds, it's clear they're concerned about the future.

62% say they expect life for their generation to be worse than previous generations. 25% said better while 13% said about the same.
