Syracuse University’s College of Law unveils portrait of former President Biden

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NBC, KYMA) - Former President Joe Biden was back at Syracuse University Tuesday for the unveiling of his portrait.

Former President Biden graduated from the university's College of Law back in 1968.

The 46th President of the United States delivered some brief remarks about his time at the law school and the way it influenced his career in public life.

"Everything I did as elected official was all extension what I learned here at Syracuse, how to use the law, how to fight for the values I learned sitting in my parents kitchen table, dignity, respect, fairness, equality, and of course, I shared Syracuse as I studied our Constitution, they began to understand that our democracy is the very soul of this nation.

I'll close with this. As I began to build my presidential library and foundation hope to pass down to future generations the reverence for democracy. My classmates and I learned here at Syracuse because whatever, whatever my legacy may be, I hope will be said that I never stop striving for the cause of democracy."
