Cat rescued from Long Island Railroad tracks

LINDENHURST, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA) - A cat has been rescued from Long Island Railroad tracks near the Lindenhurst station.

An animal rescuer spotted the orange tabby between track 1 and track 2 Sunday night, and assumed it died, but then, he saw the cat move his head, and that's when he jumped into action.

John DeBacker contacted the MTA to shut off the power. Three officers helped rescue the cat, who they named Garfield.

DeBacker said Garfield was brought to a medical foster for evaluation with "pretty severe injuries."
