Bahamian police to either charge or release husband of missing American woman

MARSH HARBOUR, Bahamas (NBC, KYMA) - There is an update in the case of the American woman who went missing during a boating trip in the Bahamas.

Bahamian police now have until Monday night to either release Brian Hooker or charge him, possibly with murder, in connection to the disappearance of his wife, Lynette.

Hooker claims she fell from the couple's small dinghy in rough weather last week.

His attorney says Hooker was questioned by police for more than three hours Friday, and says they requested an extension of his detention through 7:20 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time Monday.

Hooker has not been charged and has denied any wrongdoing.

It's unclear when he may have a court date, and the search for Lynette Hooker is ongoing.
