Springs Fire in Southern California burns over 4,100 acres

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (NBC, KYMA) - A brush fire that broke out in California's Moreno Valley Friday morning has grown to over 4,100 acres.

According to Cal Fire, the Springs Fire has burned approximately 4,176 and is 45% contained as of Saturday morning.

The blaze started on Gilman Springs Road amid Friday's windy conditions, and triggered mandatory evacuation orders in several Riverside County neighborhoods.

"I'm worried but it wouldn't be the first time, you know, like similar things have happened before. It's the worst that it's been but, I mean all you can do is hope, you know," said Naim Jeraz, a Riverside County resident.

When asked where they were going, Jeraz said, "We don't know. I guess where the wind takes us. We're gonna try to see if we can get like an Airbnb or something like that."

Cal Fire said two air tanks, 36 engines and 260 personnel were responding to the fire as well as seven hand crews.

No injures were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. To keep up-to-date on the Springs Fire, click here.
