Winds causing air quality alert in Yuma and Fortuna Foothills

KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has issued a high pollution advisory in Yuma through this evening.

As of 2 p.m. today, Calexico is sitting in unhealthy conditions for people sensitive to air pollution. In Brawley, El Centro, Niland and Westmorland current conditions are moderate.

This comes with higher wind gusts pushing throughout the city of Yuma. Gusts have gotten into the 20+mph range today, but are expected to calm down as we head into the later evening hours. In the Imperial Valley, gusts are slightly slower this afternoon, and are also expected to calm down as we head into tonight.

Temperature peaks are going to sit in the mid 80s in both the Imperial Valley and Yuma County today. Sunshine should make its way through the Desert Southwest, as well.

Tomorrow, temperatures will flirt with the 90s while Sunday is expected to roll around with a decent uptick in temperatures - around the mid 90s.
