L.A. Mayor Karen Bass discusses city preparations ahead of record-breaking heat

LOS ANGELES (KYMA, NBC) - Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass held a press conference Monday afternoon.

According to a press release obtained by NBC News, this was in regards to discuss preparations to protect Los Angeles residents from record-breaking heat impacting the city this week.

"As a former nurse and a physician assistant, I know first-hand that this heat is something to treat extremely seriously, and I’m making sure the City is preparing accordingly," said Mayor Bass. "Hundreds of City facilities, including libraries and recreation centers, are available for Angelenos who need to stay cool. Do not hesitate – get indoors and into air conditioning and protect yourself."

An Extreme Heat Warning for will be in effect for L.A. from Tuesday at 10 a.m. through Friday at 8 p.m., and there will be cooling locations available for Los Angeles residents.
