Shamrock Showdown bringing boxing to Yuma Catholic Stadium

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-KECY-TV) - A night of boxing with a St. Patrick’s Day twist is coming to Yuma this weekend. The “Shamrock Showdown Under the Lights” is set for Saturday, March 14, at Yuma Catholic’s Ricky Gwynn Stadium.

Hosted by Bad Apple Boxing, the event will feature local fighters stepping into the ring for a night of competition under the stadium lights. Organizers say the event is designed to bring together the community while showcasing local boxing talent.

Weigh-ins and doctor checks will take place Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Doors for the event open at 3 p.m., with the first bell scheduled for 4 p.m.

Bad Apple Boxing owner Tyler Bialecki says events like this help elevate the sport in the area.

“We’re changing everyone’s game in Arizona… we’re stepping up everyone’s game in town,” Bialecki said.

The event is expected to draw fans from across the Yuma area for an afternoon of fights, entertainment, and community support for local athletes.
