Yuma’s first indoor golf simulator facility Birdie Swing Bays opens
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A new indoor golf experience is teeing off in Yuma, offering local players a chance to practice and play year-round no matter the weather.
Birdie Swing Bay's, an indoor golf simulator facility, recently celebrated its grand opening, bringing a growing national trend to the desert. The facility allows golfers of all skill levels to play virtual courses, practice their swing, or simply enjoy the game in a controlled indoor environment.
For owners Isaac and Tori Valencia, the idea came after experiencing similar facilities in other cities and realizing Yuma didn’t have anything like it.
Isaac Valencia said the inspiration first came while visiting another simulator facility.
“We golfed at one in Utah. It was great. Scottsdale has some, San Diego has them,” he said. “After the win in Utah we were like, ‘Hey, you know what? We need to bring one to Yuma.’”
The indoor setup allows golfers to play regardless of weather conditions — something the owners believe will be especially valuable in Yuma’s extreme summer heat.
“If the elements are crazy outside, you can’t golf,” Tori Valencia said. “So if it’s hot or windy or rainy, you can come here. Every day is sunny and 75 in here.”
The facility uses golf simulator technology to track shots and recreate real courses virtually, giving players detailed feedback on their swings while still offering the feel of playing a full round of golf.
But the Valencias say the facility is about more than just technology — it’s about building community.
The space is designed to host birthday parties, team-building events, and casual outings, while also offering memberships for frequent players.
“People love it,” Tori Valencia said. “They can come for birthday parties or team-building things. You can get a membership to come every day or get a discount. We have so many plans for this place.”
The owners also hope the facility can make the sport more accessible for beginners who might feel intimidated on a traditional golf course.
“That’s the beauty of this,” Isaac Valencia said. “You can come here and train. You can come here just for a team-building event. You can come here if you’ve never hit a ball and want privacy and don’t want to go out on the course and shoot 200.”
Beyond recreation, the Valencias say they want Birdie Swing Bays to help grow the next generation of golfers in Yuma.
“We hope it inspires the youth to come and golf,” they said. “We have children, nieces, nephews — we encourage all of them to come and golf.”
They also hope to partner with local schools and eventually create a scholarship opportunity for young golfers in the community.
“One of our goals is to have a scholarship for local kids and the golf community,” they said. “There are scholarships that get missed, and we’d like to help with that.”
Looking ahead, the owners plan to continue expanding the facility with additional technology, retail merchandise, and potentially even youth programs and summer golf camps.
And if things go as planned, Birdie Swing Bays may not be the only one in Yuma for long.
“In ten years, I imagine we have more than one,” Isaac Valencia said. “Technology in this industry is always changing, and we want to keep upgrading and growing.”
For now, though, the goal is simple — give Yuma golfers a new place to play, practice and enjoy the game year-round.
