Imperial tops Gila Ridge 4-0 to begin tournament play

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Gila Ridge Hawks fell to Imperial 4-0 in Thursday’s varsity baseball tournament matchup held in Yuma.

Imperial got on the board early, scoring a run in the first inning, and added key runs in the fourth and fifth innings to build a 4-0 lead. Gila Ridge struggled to find offensive momentum, finishing the game with just three hits and no runs.

Imperial recorded seven hits and two errors, while Gila Ridge tallied three hits and three errors. Despite a strong effort on defense, the Hawks were unable to break through against Imperial’s pitching staff.

The loss knocks Gila Ridge out of contention in this round of the tournament, while Imperial moves on with the win.
