‘Scream 7’ scares up record $64 million at weekend box office

(CNN, KYMA) - Two music movies and the latest entry in a beloved horror franchise made their mark on the weekend box office.

Neon's "EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert," a documentary film directed by Baz Luhrmann, which is a follow-up to his 2022 biopic "Elvis," brought in $3.5 million for fifth place.

Trafalgar Releasing's "Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined," another documentary film chronicling the Mexico City show of the Clancy World Tour, took fourth place, earning $4.3 million in fewer than 800 theaters.

Warner Bros. Pictures' "Wuthering Heights," starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi and directed by Emerald Fennell, fell to third place, earning $7 million in ticket sales.

Sony's "Goat" lost the top spot, but it made $12 million to earn second place, as well as earn $74 million domestically.

Paramount's "Scream 7" slashed its way to the top spot, earning $64.1 million, which is the best opening in the franchise's 30-year history.
