Glove containing DNA evidence found near Nancy Guthrie’s home
TUCSON, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - The search for Nancy Guthrie stretched into its 14th day Sunday, but a source familiar with the investigation confirmed that a glove containing DNA evidence was found roughly two miles from Guthrie's home.
It appears consistent with a glove worn by a person seen in doorbell cam video on the morning the 84-year-old disappeared.
While the glove was one of 16 recovered over several days near Guthrie's home, investigators have determined that most of the gloves belonged to searchers combing the area for evidence.
The person familiar with the matter says the DNA profile of the glove matches an unknown man.
After additional testing, it will be added to the Consolidated DNA Index System (CODIS), the national DNA database managed by the FBI.
Two sources familiar with the Guthrie investigation also told NBC News that authorities are leaning away from several individuals previously scrutinized as suspects, as well as any of Guthrie's relatives.
However, no one has been officially ruled out, and investigators are continuing to pursue leads.
