Prescribed burn planned for February at Imperial National Wildlife Refuge

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - A prescribed fire will be conducted in February, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The fire is planned for February 12, 2026 at the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge.

The Service says prescribed burns is the best method to prevent potential loss from wildfire.

Smoke may be visible to Yuma residents but the Service will be closely monitoring the burns.
