President Trump unveils rendering of his proposed White House ballroom renovations
WASHINGTON (NBC, KYMA) - President Donald Trump released a new rendering of the ballroom he wants to build onto the White House Tuesday.
President Trump posted the image on social media, describing the addition as a "beautiful building."
He also noted that it was identical in height and scale to the historic look of the White House.
"This is the first rendering shown to the Public. If you notice, the North Wall is a replica of the North Facade of the White House, shown at the right hand side of the picture. This space will serve our Country well for, hopefully, centuries into the future," the president wrote on social media.
The renovation project, which is being funded by the president and various donors, and expected to cost $400 million, has drawn criticism for the nonprofit National Trust for Historic Preservation, who argues the president does not have the constitutional authority to tear down the East Wing.
