Authorities in Arizona investigate possible ransom communication tied to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
TUCSON, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - Authorities in southern Arizona are investigating possible ransom communications tied to the disappearance of "Today Show" co-host Savannah Guthrie's mother.
The Pima Country Sheriff's Department (PCSD) says it is aware of reports involving possible ransom notes connected to Nancy Guthrie.
In a statement posted Tuesday, PCSD said it is taking all tips and leads very seriously.
Officials added that any information received is being forwarded directly to detectives, who are coordinating with the FBI.
They say that two reports of ransom notes have been sent to news organizations referencing Guthrie.
NBC News has not seen copies of these notes.
Guthrie was last seen Saturday night at her home in Tucson, where she lives alone, and officials say concerns were raised when the 84-year-old failed to attend church Sunday.
A church member contacted a family member, who then searched the home before notifying authorities.
