Cardinal’s new HC Mike LaFleur addresses media
Arizona's new head coach kept things real during his introductory press conference to the organization, players and media
TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona Cardinals are turning the page on their head coach as they introduced new Head Coach Mike LaFleur to the press on Tuesday.
The longtime offense assistant takes over a Cardinals team coming off a 3-14 campaign, with ownership hopeful his leadership can spark a quick turnaround. He was introduced in front of players, staff and media, marking the beginning of a new era in Arizona.
The 38-year-old coach is already familiar with the organization, having faced the Cardinals twice each season while on the Los Angeles Rams' coaching staff. Still, LaFleur said the opportunity to lead the franchise was one he couldn’t pass up.
"I've told a few people this — the way you guys did it, you showed me you want to get this thing right," LaFleur said. "I really appreciate that, and I know it wasn't easy. From that first call, the first Zoom to last week, and then getting that call a couple of days ago, I couldn’t be more thrilled."
While last season’s record looms large, LaFleur made it clear he isn’t dwelling on the past. Instead, his focus is on rebuilding the roster, establishing a new standard and moving the franchise forward.
