‘Today Show’ host Savannah Guthrie’s mom reported missing in Arizona

UPDATE (4:43 PM): Investigators believe Guthrie was forced to leave her home, possibly in the middle of the night.

The case could be a possible kidnapping.

UPDATE (11:26 AM): An investigation continues into the whereabouts of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today Show" co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.

Guthrie was last seen Saturday night in her home in Tucson, with Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos saying, during a press conference Monday morning, she was reported missing by her family around noon Sunday.

A map, presented during the press conference, shows the track that different teams, including K9s and volunteers, used on the ground to search for Guthrie.

Sheriff Nanos confirmed they do have a crime scene.

"We saw some things at the home there were concerning to us. We believe now that we have processed that we do in fact have a crime scene and we do in fact have a crime," Nanos shared.

"There were circumstances on the scene that we believe are suspicious in nature...but we cannot get in to details on that," said Sgt. David Stivers with the Pima County Sheriff's Department.

Nanos also said Guthrie, who is 84-year-old, suffers from physical ailments and some physical challenges, and said she is in need of medication.

"If she doesn't have [the medication] in 24 hours, it could be fatal," Nanos expressed.

However, Nanos said Guthrie is of "great sound mind" and is "sharp as a tact," and said, "The family wants everybody to know this not somebody who just wandered off."

UPDATE (8:50 AM): The Pima County Sheriff's Department is holding a press conference Monday to provide updates on the search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today Show" host Savannah Guthrie.

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (NBC, KYMA) - "Today Show" host Savannah Guthrie's elderly mother has been reported missing in Arizona.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) announced during a press conference Sunday that Nancy Guthrie was last seen in the Catalina Foothills area Saturday shortly before 10:00 p.m.

Search and rescue teams are out searching for the 84-year-old. Deputies have also contacted local hospitals, but none in the area have seen her.

"Miss Guthrie is 84 years old and is not in good physical health so naturally we have some great concerns," said Sheriff Chris Nanos with PCSD.

Authorities say they do not know if foul play is a factor in her disappearance, but they are not ruling it out at this time.

"The scene at the house also has some concerns for us as well, and so that's why we're doing all we can to locate her," Sheriff Nanos shared.
