Tracking above-normal warmth for the first week of February

It's going to be another warm and dry week ahead for the Desert Southwest. I am tracking even warmer temperatures by the middle of the week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Monday is Groundhog Day! Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and predicts six MORE weeks of winter, but for us, it means nice and warm temperatures here in the desert.

It's also finally February, and it's been a warm start so far. Daytime highs Monday afternoon will yet again be warmer than normal. Even though it's been warm, it's still pretty pleasant.

Going into the evening, we will have some clouds, light winds, and cooling temperatures. Overnight lows will cool down into the low 50s by Tuesday morning. With warmer afternoon mornings are pretty mild.

A strong and unseasonable ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate the region, allowing our temperatures to trend well-above-normal, especially by the middle of this week.

We do have even warmer temperatures by the middle of the week, where highs will be in the mid-80s, which is over 10-15 degrees above-average for early February.

Warm and dry weather will be expected all week, with a few clouds and breezy afternoons at times. Still going to be a great week ahead.

I am tracking some possible changes next week, where we will have cooler temperatures and maybe some moisture creeping. Still too early and uncertain, so stay tuned.
