Artists work to repair damaged MLK mural and other Black History murals vandalized across San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CNN, KYMA) - Several Black History murals have been vandalized across San Diego, including a mural of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) along the I-94 Freeway.

However, local artists, like Kim Phillips, aren't backing down.

She's working on another mural to honor Dr. King, and she and others are mobilizing together, raising awareness and funding to repair the MLK mural and other damaged pieces.

Organizers hope to start repairs soon.
