President Donald Trump threatens to sue CBS News

(CNN, KYMA) - President Donald Trump threatened to sue CBS News if an interview he conducted with the network's Evening News anchor was edited.

The taped interview with anchor Tony Dokoupil aired last Tuesday after the president's trip to Detroit.

The New York Times reports after the taped interview ended, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt approached Dokoupil and gave him a message from the president.

She quoted the president saying, "Make sure you guys don't cut the tape. Make sure the interview is out in full."

Leavitt then went on to say if it is not in full, the president will sue.

Back in 2024, President Trump sued CBS over the editing of a 60 Minutes interview featuring then Vice President Kamala Harris.

CBS paid $16 million to settle the suit.
