One person dead in officer-involved shooting in Wellton

WELLTON, Ariz. (KYMA) - One person is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Wellton.

The Wellton Police Department says officers responded to reports of a stabbing around 5 a.m. Friday morning.

During that response, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say no officers were injured.

Wellton police have declined to comment further at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
