Gila Ridge seniors show out on their special night

The star-studded Hawks senior class dominated on senior night en route to a 54-24 victory over the Pinnacle Pioneers

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The Gila Ridge Hawks dominated the Pinnacle Pioneers 54-24 on senior night at Hawks Gym on Wednesday night to advance to an 11-1 record.

Gila Ridge controlled the meet from start to finish, setting the tone early with relentless intensity and strong execution in front of a home crowd honoring its seniors.

Pedro Luna, Andersen LeSueur, Zach Lines and Adam Kempton each recorded pins, energizing the crowd and sealing a memorable final home meet for the senior class.

LeSeuer started his wrestling career at Perry High School, and didn't have an enjoyable freshman year, but after transferring to Gila Ridge, he fell back in love with the sport.

"I love wrestling here," LeSueur said. "I joined as a sophomore, and I just love it. I love the team, the coaching staff and the support. I love all of it. It’s amazing."

Lines shared a similar sentiment with LeSueur when talking about the brotherhood on the team, but he also said how special it was to win on a day his senior class was being celebrated.

"Ever since I was a freshman, there were so many seniors you look up to," Lines said. "I wanted to get my hand raised. It’s the best feeling in the world, and to do it on senior night with your friends and family watching is one of the greatest things.”

After a successful senior night and dominant win, the Hawks will hit the road for the 59th Annual Flowing Wells Invitational this weekend while they keep their sights set on the state tournament in late February.
