Actor Kiefer Sutherland arrested following confrontation with ride-share driver

(NBC, KYMA) - Emmy-winning actor Kiefer Sutherland was taken into custody early Monday morning following a confrontation with a ride-share driver in Hollywood.

Speaking exclusively to an NBC affiliate in Los Angeles, police say officers responded just after midnight for a report of an assault near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue.

Investigators allege Sutherland became involved in a dispute with the driver shortly after entering the vehicle.

The 59-year-old actor was taken into custody on suspicion of felony criminal threats.

Authorities say no injuries requiring medical treatment were reported.

Jail records show Sutherland was later released on $50,000 bond, and he is scheduled to make his first court appearance on February 2.
