Flu activity increase across the United States

(CNN, KYMA) - This year's flu season is getting worse, with more and more people catching it.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says seven-and-a-half million people have had the flu so far this year, and more than 3,000 have died, including eight children.

The states seeing the highest levels of flu activity are Colorado, Louisiana, New Jersey, New York and South Carolina.

The CDC recommends that everyone six months and older get a flu vaccine each season, but vaccination rates have been decreasing in recent years.

Doctors say it's not too late to get a flu shot.
