KYMA

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - One of Arizona Western College's top athletes is making the jump to the highest level of college soccer, as Matadors midfielder Asa Yamazaki has signed with the UCLA Bruins.

Yamazaki is coming off a tremendous 2025 campaign for Arizona Western, where she recorded eight goals and seven assists while helping lead the Matadors to the NJCAA national final.

Originally from Japan, Yamazaki spent the past two seasons in Yuma playing for Arizona Western and quickly established herself as one of the top players in the program. During her time with the Matadors, she earned NJCAA All-American honors in both seasons.

With a strong junior college career now behind her, Yamazaki takes the next step in her soccer journey by joining UCLA, a program consistently finishing in the top 25 rankings on a year-to-year basis.

The Bruins last won a national championship just a few seasons ago, in 2022 - one of two the program has won all time, with the other one coming in 2013.
