Quiet, dry weather holds steady as weekend warm-up approaches
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - The quiet stretch of weather continues this week across Yuma and Imperial Counties, with dry conditions, light winds, and gradually warming temperatures expected as we move closer to the weekend.
Forecasters say a weak, fast-moving disturbance will pass through the region Wednesday, but its impacts will be minimal. Moisture is extremely limited, meaning no rain is expected locally.
The only noticeable effect will be some afternoon breeziness along the Lower Colorado River Valley, especially in areas like Winterhaven, Bard, and communities near the river.
Temperatures through midweek will hover near or slightly below normal for early December, with highs generally in the upper 60s to around 70. Nights will remain cool but seasonable.
By Friday and into the weekend, a strengthening ridge of high pressure off the West Coast will begin to take over the Southwest. This ridge will bring a steady warming trend, pushing daytime highs into the low 70s by Sunday and potentially the mid-70s early next week.
Humidity levels will stay relatively comfortable, with good overnight recovery, and firefighters can expect favorable fire-weather conditions with no significant wind events in the local districts.
The overall message: Dry, stable, and calm weather is locked in for at least the next week, with a pleasant warm-up just in time for the weekend.
