Severe thunderstorms bring heavy rain to Alabama

MOUNT OLIVE, Ala. (CBS, KYMA) - Thunderstorms crossed parts of Alabama on the morning of Tuesday, bringing "gusty winds and brief torrential rain," the National Weather Service (NWS) said.

Footage taken captured by a Ring camera belonging to Stephen Cain (@bamafancain) shows lightning and heavy rain in Mount Olive. Cain said it was the "last video" the camera captured before his home lost power.

The NWS warned that parts of Alabama could expect two rounds of severe weather Tuesday. The first round of severe weather was expected to last until 8:00 a.m. CST, while the second round was expected to last until midnight.

The NWS said the severe weather could bring wind gusts up to 60 mph, large hail, and isolated, brief tornadoes.
